RECYCLING & SUSTAINABILITY AT OOSC
Sustainability is so important for the future preservation of our environment, our mountains and ultimately our ski resorts, so we made the decision to make a major change in 2018 and overhaul our entire production process.
We decided to source only the best recycled polyester for our outerwear and organic cotton from the 2018/2019 season onwards.
ORGANIC COTTON FARMING
Organic cotton cultivation is carried out worldwide. Agricultural land is treated to remove any toxins and sufficient time is taken to clean the land properly. Fertilizers and pesticides are not used and the cotton plants are not genetically modified.
The process reduces pollution and water contamination by removing chemicals and pesticides from the growing process. Because it is also grown globally, it also helps reduce the carbon footprint - we source our cotton from Europe to reduce transport distances!
All of our soft goods (t-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts) are made from organic cotton and are all GOTS certified . Our production also undergoes annual audits to comply with the FWF Code of Labour Practices in line with the conventions of the International Labour Organisation - meaning the people who make our goods are paid fairly for doing so!
OUR PROCESS
All our technical ski jackets and ski suits are made from 51% recycled polyester made from plastic bottles.
We visited the factories and saw this process from the beginning which we found mind-blowing. And we bet you are also wondering how plastic bottles become ski jackets? Well, like this:
